January 1 - New Year's Day/ Play Outside Day

Talk a walk around the neighborhood, visit your local park or playground, or maybe have a tea party in your backyard.

January 2 - World Introvert Day
While encouraging girls to be outspoken, personable, and friendly, it' s important to remember everyone is built differently. Some girls are wallflowers, deep thinkers, and solitary. In a word: introverted! Take some time to appreciate the observers and loners of the world and if you're one of them, enjoy this day of acknowledgment.

January 3 - Women Rock! Day
On this day in 1987 Aretha Franklin was the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Women Rock day honors the many contributions women have made and continue to make in the world of Rock and Roll. Teach your kids about Stevie Nicks, Memphis Minnie, the Go-Go's, Tina Turner, and other ladies of Rock and Roll or share your favorite female artists and rock out all day long.

January 4 - National Spaghetti Day
Raise your hand if you love spaghetti! A staple of many homes with children, spaghetti has been a quick and easy go-to meal for generations. Whether you're vegan or top everything with meat, it's a universal dish that can be customized to suit your tastes. Take the day and make some spaghetti with your family and add your favorite side dishes like salads and garlic bread to the mix. Bon appetite!

January 6 - Cuddle Up Day
Cold January weather is the perfect opportunity to cuddle. But did you know there are serious health benefits? Cuddling releases the hormone oxytocin which reduces pain, lowers stress and anxiety and even lower blood pressure and reduce heart disease. Additionally, we get a boost of dopamine that makes us feel happy, but can also improve our memory and focus. So whether it's your kid or your cat, cuddle up close! It's good for your health!

January 10 - National Take The Stairs Day
Ditch elevators, escalators, and ramps if you're able and take the stairs. This simple, non-impact activity encourages us to tone our muscles, improve blood flow, and give us more energy. It even burns more calories than jogging! Add taking the stairs to your list of small victories for the day and hopefully you'll make it a regular habit.


January 18 - Winnie the Pooh Day
We've enjoyed the lovable stories of this willy nilly silly old bear for nearly 100 years! The stories of the 100-Acre Woods have charmed and delighted children since the 1920s with books, TV shows, movies, games, and theme park attractions. Share the magic and joy of Winnie the Pooh with your kids, or just pick up the classic tales and take a trip down nostalgia lane.

January 20 - Penguin Awareness Day
Penguins...that is all! Everyone's favorite flightless bird gets this special day. Watch penguin centric  movies like The Pebble and The Penguin, Surf's Up, or Happy Feet. Dress up in black and white. Take a trip to your local zoo. Find out that penguins have knees (...what?). And enjoy your penguin-filled day!

January 24 - Belly Laugh Day

Let's be real: after the last few years, we could all use a good, long, belly laugh. But did you know there are health benefits just from having a hoot? (We know, right?) Boost your immune system, pain tolerance, and gain more positivity. Spend today finding reasons not just to smile, but to belly laugh!

January 25 - Opposite Day

Here's a childhood classic to pass down to your kids: Opposite Day! Call in sick then show up anyway! Serve your family dinner for breakfast. Say "Goodbye" as you start a conversation. Or the biggest brain bomb of all, don't do anything! After all, the opposite of opposite is normal...right?

January 26 - National Fun at Work Day

It's the last Friday of the month! Convince you workplace to celebrate by having a little bit of fun. Maybe have an office party, play team-building games, or start a dance-off. Wear pajamas to work or give out random awards. Think of creative ways to encourage camaraderie among your co-workers and just have a good time!

January 29 - National Puzzle Day

Let's work out both sides of the brain and pick up a puzzle. Whether you enjoy word searches, jigsaws, mazes, or Sudoku, stimulate your mind and feel a sense of accomplishment for your efforts. It's a great activity to share with your friends and loved ones.
